Bike Hire

Mallaig and the surrounding area is an excellent place to explore by bike.  Within a fifteen-minute bike ride you can be freewheeling alongside gorgeous unspoilt coastline, or take a ferry to explore the Small Isles, Knoydart and Skye; a train journey away and you can cycle along iconic places such as the Glenfinnan Viaduct and Ben Nevis.

Here at Mallaig Pool & Leisure Centre we have a fleet of multi-terrain, unisex adult and children’s mountain bikes, tag-along bike and a child seat for hire all year round. These are sanitised and serviced after each hire to ensure you will have a safe, confident and enjoyable experience.

Our hire package includes locks, helmets, small back/front lights, small map of the area and a saddle bag with puncture repair kit just in case.

We are just a five minute walk from Mallaig Train Station; ample onsite parking is also available to drop off and collect bikes if necessary.

OUR BIKES AND ACCESSORIES:

Adult bikes: Our ‘Forme’ adult bikes have a lightweight aluminium frame, hydraulic disc brakes and 3×8 Shimano gears and front suspension. These bikes feel and handle like a mountain bike with the advantage of giving you an equally confident and safe ride on main roads and mountain tracks

Children’s bikes: Both our children’s ‘Decathlon’ mountain bikes are equipped with safer and easier to use grip gear shifter, V-brakes with child-sized levers for an easy and powerful braking, chainwheel and rear derailleur guard for extra safety and rigid fork for that confident ride on a variety of trails. These unisex bikes will appeal to both boys and girl.

Tagalong bike: ‘WeeRide’ Co-Pilot bike has an adjustable handlebar, two mudguards, a chain guard and a safety flag. A tagalong bike allows you to go on longer journeys with the junior who finds them a bit tiresome, or who is still practicing those riding skills. A Sync Link Pivot system allows up/down and side to side movements, thus giving a smooth and safe experience for both you and the child.

Child’s Bike Seat: The ‘Raleigh Avenir’ Child Bike Seat has a full comfort cushion, 3 positioning options and a 3-point harness with extra security belt to ensure the child is comfortable and safe. Large footrests give a bit of extra protection and retention.

Additional accessories:

  • Pannier racks
  • Pannier bags (100% waterproof)
  • 80l trailer bag (100% waterproof)
  • Small trailer
