November has been a great month here at the pool with lots of new stuff going on. We have introduced some new classes which are proving really popular and it has been a great month for fundraising too. We are also running a great offer for new members who sign up before 15th December 2017.
We have a great promotion for new members, if you sign up before 15th December we will pay the pro rata payment for you so you get the rest of December for free. You won’t pay anything until January. This is a great offer and a great way to get fitter and healthier in time for Christmas. Membership is £20 per month for an individual and £30 per month for a family. This gives you free entry to everything here at the leisure centre and includes fitness classes and block swimming lessons. If you are already a member, what about treating someone to a great Christmas Gift.
The friends of Mallaig Pool were extremely busy organising the Body Shop and Pamper Evening and the Hats, Gloves and Ties Afternoon Tea Party. Just short of £200 was raised at each event so a tremendous effort by all.
A huge £3725.29 was also raised by everyone that signed up to the co-op scheme. We have lots of things planned for 2018 so watch out for lots of fun and exciting opportunities.
All this goes toward the refurbishment of the Leisure Centre.
Our Annual Santa Dash will be taking place on Saturday 9th December. We will meet at Morar Train Station at 11.30am then run, walk or cycle to the Steam Inn at Mallaig where you can tuck into warm mince pies and mulled wine. There is no charge for this, just donations at the Steam Inn. If you haven’t already signed up to this, call in at the pool for an entry form.
We will also be drawing our 50/50 Raffle at the Steam Inn after the Santa Dash. If you haven’t already bought you tickets, this is your last chance. The prize will be half of whatever ticket money is collected. Last year one lucky winner netted £512. Raffle tickets are available from The pool, The Harbour shop and The Spar at Arisaig.
Two new classes started this month, Circuit Training and Spinning. Both have been very popular and are filling up fast. Please ring up and book a place if you want to come and join in. They will finish over Christmas but will start again in the New Year.
We are also hoping to start some more things in the New Year so please watch this space.

BIKE MAINTENANCE CLASSES
We are planning to have a 6 week block of Bike Maintenance classes starting in the Ney Year for all of you who were lucky enough to get a new bike off Santa or maybe for those that didn’t get a new bike and need a bit of maintenance on their old one. To give us an idea of people interested in this please ring up and let us know and we will keep you informed on when these will take place.
We are looking for freelance gym instructors (Level 2 or higher) who can teach fitness classes, for example, spinning, aerobics, circuits, Zumba, etc. Hourly rate is £20-25 depending on experience and qualifications. If you are interested in this or any other aspects of running courses please call the Centre or pop in for a chat.
The block swimming lessons are nearing the end of term, the last one is week beginning 11th December. The students are all progressing well and we are looking forward to seeing them all next term. The next block of lessons will start the week beginning 15th January, 2018.
The private swimming lessons are proving popular and so far everyone has been very happy with their progress. If you would like to book a private lesson, either to learn to swim or just to improve your stroke, please contact Jane, here at the pool. If you don’t want a private lesson but would just like to improve your stroke why not try our Adult lessons on a Thursday night with Morag. Places are limited so please book early.
